Our experience in the field of lawnmowers dates back to 1972 when family run and owned company Bartram Mowers was founded in Norwich (you can take a look around our showroom here). We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings, and have a built a name for ourselves trading from our Norwich headquarters, making sure that we are selling the very best equipment for the best prices.
Lawnmowers Direct was launched in 1999, and since then we’ve gone from strength to strength. We are constantly investing in the website to give users the best experience possible, and we pride ourselves on an exceptional level of customer service, excellent stock, and a staff of highly trained engineers. Whether you’re looking for a machine to keep your back garden under control, or you need something for commercial mowing on a much larger scale, Lawnmowers Direct’s friendly, competent staff will help you find what you’re looking for.
Never used us before? We might have mentioned that Lawnmowers Direct is a well-established company with a lot of very satisfied customers – but you don’t need to take our word for it. There are so many online shops it can be hard to keep up, and not all of them provide the service that they claim to, so reviews are a great way of separating the trustworthy sites from the ones you should be avoiding.
We use Feefo to collect product and service reviews from our verified customers; you can’t leave us a review without an invitation and the only way to get one is by placing an order and providing us with your email address. We find this feedback absolutely essential – it allows us to make changes if we can see something isn’t working and it also lets anyone who is thinking about buying from us make up their mind about whether they want to use us or not.
Once you’ve decided to buy from us, we have useful information about how to place your order and offer a replacement policy if the machine you purchase isn’t quite right for you. This means that you can be sure you end up with the right product for you with the convenience of online shopping and convenient home delivery.
If you’re still not sure, just have a read of our Feefo reviews and see what you think!
One of the things that makes Lawnmowers Direct stand out among online retailers of lawn maintenance equipment is our excellent stock. While other retailers often resort to drop shipping – passing on orders to manufacturers and distributors rather than holding their own stock – we have an expansive warehouse facility so we can check and approve stock before sending it out. This means that before a product appears on our site it has to reach our high standards for quality, reliability and value for money. Meanwhile, our substantial buying power means that we’re able to get these products at the best possible price, and pass on those savings to you. If we need to order something in for you, we will give you an estimate of how long this will be, and update you if there’s going to be a delay.
Each petrol product that we send out is checked over by our trained, experienced mechanics, so we know our products will arrive with you ready to use. As well as a wide array of lawnmowers and rider mowers, we also keep a huge stock of original spare parts, with over a million replacement parts from leading equipment manufacturers, so we’re able to quickly provide replacements and repairs as necessary.
Lawnmowers Direct’s reputation is built not just on our excellent stock of lawnmowers and parts, but also the high level of service we provide for all our customers. Since 1997 Bartram Mowers has been an officially recognised Investor in People, and our fully trained servicing and repairs department not only means that our products are always in the best condition when they ship, but also that customers can call us up at any time to receive expert advice.
We are continually praised on our attitude toward customer service and we believe that is because we have our roots in a brick and mortar company which deals with personal interaction. Just have a look through some of our reviews if you’re not convinced.
Bartram Mowers has been recognised across the country for the high level of service and products that we provide. Bartram Mowers have been ISO accredited to BS5750 in 1990 and we were more recently upgraded to ISO 9001:2008. With branches in both Norwich and Ipswich, we’re able to supply across East Anglia
Since 1978, our firm has held the Royal Warrant for supplying horticultural equipment to Sandringham, and have had an on-going relationship with the Royal Estate since then. We’ve also gone on to have contracts to supply national and local government authorities with a variety of garden machinery.
One of the largest grass cutting operations in the eastern counties covers the Kings Lynn and West Norfolk District Council area – 550 square miles – the third largest local authority in Britain. Deputy General Manager for parks and gardens Chris Willett is responsible for keeping all the grassed areas tidy throughout the summer and his team of 20 ground staff, who work all year round, is boosted by five more who work just on cutting lawn areas. We’ve worked with Chris for a number of years, and he had this to say about our products.
“The reliability of the equipment supplied by Bartram Mowers is very important because we have a tight schedule to keep. The machines are also heavily used so servicing and support is vital. We have six ride-on machines with three units and a seven unit tractor mounted mower to cut housing estates, sports fields, recreation grounds, village greens and verges. It is a five days a week continuous job.”
Our people have also helped to supply the maintenance equipment used by Fountains in maintaining London’s parks such as Bushy Park, Victoria Park, Battersea Park, Richmond Park and Pembroke Lodge. We have been working with Fountains since 1994, supplying them with grounds maintenance equipment after it won the Fenlands District Council and subsequent Breckland District Council and RAF Honington maintenance contracts.
Fountains’ James Kelly has said, “We have seen immediate results from our commitment to training, our operators certainly take more pride in their machines, operate them with more consideration and as a result we are experiencing less downtime. This has a benefit both financially and operationally. The success of this programme has enabled the three parties in the partnership, the dealer, equipment manufacturer and ourselves, to sign off improved warranty terms.”
