Essential tools for any garden, the line trimmer and more robust brush cutters are indispensable for clearing areas that cannot be reached with a lawnmower. In their most basic form, brushcutter and line trimmers are a length of hollow tubing, with at one end an engine and at the other the cutting line or blade. They are designed for cutting long grass next to fencing or around pots, clearing undergrowth from neglected areas and even removing semi-mature scrub from hard to access terrain. The most obvious difference between the two types of machine are the shafts; usually bent at the cutting end on a line trimmer to make trimming around ornaments easier, as opposed to the straight shaft of a brush cutter, permitting better power transference to drive a metal blade through tough undergrowth.
