With almost five decades of designing and manufacturing precision, single-cylinder, walk-behind mowers, Allett have established themselves as one of the leading names in the business. Their mowers are used throughout Great Britain, Ireland and continental Europe to maintain fine ornamental lawns, parks, and greens. For keen gardeners with smaller lawns, however, Allett’s mains-powered self-propelled electric Sandringham lawnmowers, including the 12E and the 14E, offer quality engineering and excellent performance allied with ease and convenience of use.
The 12E is the most compact model of Allett’s two electric Sandringham mowers, with a cutting width of 30cm and weighing only 24.5kg. Powered by an energy efficient 420-Watt motor, the 12E’s self-propulsion system, featuring variable speed control, compact frame and manoeuvrability make navigating borders and ornaments a breeze. Other features, such as adjustable handlebars with two height positions, a durable 32 litre polypropylene grass box with clippings compactor, and a 22.5 metre power cord only add further to the utility of this estimable machine.
The Allett Sandringham 12E uses a five-blade “Quick Cartridge” cylinder to cut grass with a scissor-like action at a rate of around 106 cuts per metre. The cutting height can be adjusted using the “dial-a-height” hand-dial located on the side of the machine, and can be set to one of five positions over a range of 6mm-32mm. This produces the fine surface finish for which Allett mowers are renowned, while the front and rear rollers work together to produce a crisply defined and attractive stripe effect.
It can also be fitted with a scarifier cartridge (available separately) in place of the original five-blade unit, which can be used to remove accumulated vegetable matter and detritus from grass during the spring and autumn months. Moreover, Allett’s two year warranty on parts and labour further adds to the durability and longevity of the Sandringham 12E, making it the ideal machine for the keen gardener looking to achieve a high quality finish on a smaller lawn.
