In the past, only battery lawnmowers could only cope with the smallest of lawns. They weren’t particularly reliable, and as a result, they were rarely a first choice. Now though, thanks to improved performance and lithium-ion batteries, battery lawnmowers are becoming better every year, and they’re a genuine option for those who don’t want the noise and high maintenance of a petrol mower.
The new Atco Liner 16S Li with 41cm cutting width offers uncompromising power, and can mow for up to an hour on a single 75 minute charge. This lightweight mower is just 28kg, and is suitable for lawns up to 25 metres by 25 metres in size. Attach the grass box, press the starter button, and engage the lever (operator presence control is an important safety feature), and you’re off!
The Atco Liner petrol range has been one of our best sellers for years, thanks to its rear roller which achieves the classic striped lawns that we all love. The new Liner battery range, with its sturdy steel deck, still features the rear roller, so you can bring the stripe to your own garden. Rollers have the added benefit of allowing you to cut right up to the edge of your lawn without scalping.
Cutting height can be adjusted between 20 and 70 mm, using the 5 pre-set positions controlled by the single point of height adjuster. This allows you to easily adjust the height depending on time of year, and the finish you want to achieve on your lawn.
With a 55 litre canvas grass bag with a hard top and an indicator to show when your bag is full, there’s no more guessing when to empty. With a 2 year warranty, and a study steel chassis, you know you are buying into the quality Atco brand – a name you can trust.

In 1921 the first 900 petrol-powered Atco lawnmowers rolled off the production line at the Atco mowers factory in Birmingham and were delivered, believe it or not, by a man on a motorcycle with a specially developed side-car for transportation of these heavy machines. Things have moved on a little since then for Atco mowers, but one thing remains the same — the quality of the Atco mowers and products is as good as it ever was, and even though they expanded into different areas of the garden machinery market, it is their cylinder mowers that they are best know for. The Atco name is synonymous with the British gardening scene and the company has been awarded two Royal Warrants, the first in 1955 from Queen Elizabeth II and again in 1986, this time from HRH The Prince Of Wales.
Robert Bosch GmbH acquired Atco-Qualcast Ltd in 1995 and this brought a modern approach to the manufacturing process with the cylinder mowers that the company is famous for changing tremendously, becoming more light-weight with a marked increase in usability and performance; the introduction of the now famous QX Quick Exchange Cassette System, for instance, allows gardeners to change their lawn application needs without changing machine. Not happy with manufacturing the highest quality products, Atco leads the way in environmental compliance, being the first garden machinery manufacturer to be awarded the environmental management standard BS EN ISO 14001.
