Having designed and manufactured premium lawnmowers for more than ninety years, Atco understand the value of a high quality lawn more than most, and when mowing a large garden you need to be able to rely upon a serious machine. In this respect, Atco’s ride-on mowers tick all of the required boxes; they are tough, easy to use, hard working and allow you to achieve an excellent surface on your lawn. The Rider 27M is an excellent introduction to the world of ride-on mowers, perfect for maintaining lawns of up to three quarters of an acre.
Atco’s Rider 27M is an outstanding alternative to a large walk-behind mower, and with its comfortable raised seating position offering excellent forward visibility the Rider 27M makes maintaining a large lawn easier and more pleasurable than ever. Designed to be simple to use while producing outstanding cutting performance, the Rider 27M boasts great maneovrability and a cutting width of 66cm to allow for efficient mowing even in complicated or intricate areas. The cutting blade is engaged via a lever located adjacent to the steering wheel for easy access; this versatile machine also features six-position height of cut adjustment (30mm-80mm), controlled via a simple single lever system, making it easy to adapt the mower to provide the best results on your lawn.
Driven by a powerful 190cc Briggs & Stratton Professional 875 Series petrol engine, the Rider 27M also features manual transmission with four forward gears and reverse to make navigating even the biggest lawns simple. With a large 3.8 litre fuel tank to minimise the necessity of refuelling whilst mowing, this impressive engine also features electric key starting and Briggs & Stratton’s unique ReadyStart® system, which together ensure that the Rider 27M starts quickly, reliably and with the minimum of fuss.
Further convenience is provided by the Rider 27M’s high-capacity rear-mounted 150 litre grass collector; designed for optimal collection performance, the collector features a buzzer which sounds when it is full and can be emptied from the driver’s seat for added ease and efficiency. With Atco’s two year warranty providing added peace of mind for owner’s of this already durable and trustworthy machine, anyone with a large garden would do well to consider the merits of the Rider 27M.

In 1921 the first 900 petrol-powered Atco lawnmowers rolled off the production line at the Atco mowers factory in Birmingham and were delivered, believe it or not, by a man on a motorcycle with a specially developed side-car for transportation of these heavy machines. Things have moved on a little since then for Atco mowers, but one thing remains the same — the quality of the Atco mowers and products is as good as it ever was, and even though they expanded into different areas of the garden machinery market, it is their cylinder mowers that they are best know for. The Atco name is synonymous with the British gardening scene and the company has been awarded two Royal Warrants, the first in 1955 from Queen Elizabeth II and again in 1986, this time from HRH The Prince Of Wales.
Robert Bosch GmbH acquired Atco-Qualcast Ltd in 1995 and this brought a modern approach to the manufacturing process with the cylinder mowers that the company is famous for changing tremendously, becoming more light-weight with a marked increase in usability and performance; the introduction of the now famous QX Quick Exchange Cassette System, for instance, allows gardeners to change their lawn application needs without changing machine. Not happy with manufacturing the highest quality products, Atco leads the way in environmental compliance, being the first garden machinery manufacturer to be awarded the environmental management standard BS EN ISO 14001.
