Bosch AHS 48 LI Cordless Hedgecutter

  • Product Details

The AHS 48 is a powerful cordless hedge-cutter which would be ideal for anyone with a medium-sized garden: it has both the power and the blade length to punch above its weight, and includes many advantageous features to give you comfort and peace of mind.

Weighing in at only 2.2kg, this machine is light enough to use in comfort no matter what your strength, enabling you to tackle the tops of hedges and tall shrubs without strain on your back or arms. The weight has also been carefully balanced, and the machine features a new ergonomic design and “softgrip” handle to ensure that it is as comfortable as possible to use. It has also been designed for quiet and vibration-free running to minimise strain on the operator, and features a two-switch start system to ensure it can never be switched on accidentally.

The battery technology of this cutter gives you freedom both from the risk of cutting a mains cable and from the noise and fumes of a petrol engine. The powerful 18V battery ensures that this machine will tackle medium-sized branches with ease, and will trim a hedge effortlessly. The battery will give up to 75 minutes of use on a single charge, and when it does finally run down completely and need recharging this can be accomplished in only 1.5hours thanks to the lithium-ion technology. The lithium-ion technology of this battery also provides a number of other benefits: it weighs up to 50% less than a standard battery, thus helping Bosch keep the weight of the product as low as possible, it will not self-discharge when the machine is in storage, and it will retain its full charge capacity for up to 4x longer than a standard battery, giving you peace of mind and anywhere up to 8-10 years of regular usage.

The diamond-ground, laser-cut 48cm blade gives you a long enough reach to tackle hedges and shrubs in tricky situations such as above your head, and the 15mm-spaced teeth ensure the blade gets a good grip on the branch to minimise the risk of skidding. To maximise efficiency, Bosch have fitted the blade with their “Anti-blocking system”, which helps to prevent stalling and ensure a smooth, continuous cutting performance: innovative micro-electronics detect when a branch cannot be cut through immediately and instantly adjust the running direction of the blade so they reverse several times, giving them the traction to power through the branch.

For additional convenience you can remove the battery from your mower and swap it into one of the other compatible tools available from Bosch, allowing you to purchase most of your tools bare (without the battery) and save money.

    About Bosch
Since the humble beginnings in Stuttgart, 1886, when Robert Bosch formed his own business manufacturing electronic components, the ‘Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering' has become one of the biggest and best known manufacturers of domestic and industrial electrical products in the world. The willingness to improve on established designs started almost immediately and it is this ethos that has kept Bosch GmbH and Bosch lawnmowers ahead of their rivals ever since. This innovation is quite apparent in the present range of Bosch lawnmowers and garden products that include tools no other garden machinery manufacturer produces.

Whatever size your garden, there is bound to be a Bosch lawnmower to suit it. The Bosch Rotak electric and cordless mowers exemplify the company’s willingness to innovate with features such as grass combs that enable mowing up to the edges of lawn borders and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with virtually no drop-off in performance after extended use. Aside from Bosch lawnmowers, notable inventions are the Ciso Cordless Secateur and Isio Cordless Shrub Shear, tools that allow users with physical weaknesses to carryout day-to-day gardening tasks without discomfort. There is no doubt that if a garden tool can be improved upon, Robert Bosch GmbH is probably designing its successor already.
