There are a number of stereotypes about the British which people from the rest of the world bandy about. Apparently we’re very fond of tea (true enough), even more fond of alcohol (probably also true) and our chimneysweeps all spend their time dancing on rooftops and singing in a cock-er-ney accent (Disney’s Mary Poppins has a lot to answer for on that count). Another slightly more obscure stereotype about the denizens of this sceptred isle is that we’re all wild for a stripy lawn, and though this might be a slight exaggeration it’s hard to deny that beautifully manicured turf is a very pleasing thing to behold. With Bosch’s Rotak 36 R, moreover, it is now possible to achieve a luxurious striped finish in even the most compact home gardens, so there’s really no good reason not to live up to the stereotype (bonus points if you mow the lawn while drinking tea and dressed up as a singing chimneysweep).
An electric rotary mower with a 37cm (14.5”) working width, Bosch’s Rotak 36 R is perfect for routine lawn maintenance in smaller urban gardens where noisier petrol equipment can often cause an unwelcome disturbance. The Rotak 36 R’s hardened steel cutterblade is driven by a powerful 1350W Powerdrive electric motor for consistently high torque in all conditions, while cuttings are gathered by the high-airflow 40 litre grass collector to ensure a pristinely tidy finish. To further improve the quality of cut, regardless of the grass conditions at hand, the Rotak 36 R also features a five-position variable height of cut system with settings ranging from 20mm to 70mm, all controlled via a single easy-access lever. The striped finish, meanwhile, is produced by the Bosch Rotak 36 R’s rear roller.
Additional advantages of an electric mower compared to a petrol one (especially in smaller gardens) include the lack of unpleasant exhaust fumes and a significantly reduced weight, with the Bosch Rotak 36 R weighing in at a miniscule 12kg. This is particularly important on a hand-propelled mower such as the Rotak 36 R, combining with its smooth-running, rubber-coated wheels for ease of handling when mowing along lawn borders or around obstacles. Bosch’s unique “Ergoflex System”, meanwhile, has been designed to improve posture and reduce muscle strain while you work, with the handlebars offering a secure, comfortable grip and quick access to all controls.
This fantastic user convenience is even evident from the moment you open the Rotak 36 R’s box thanks to Bosch’s new QuickClick handle system, which enables hassle-free assembly without any need to reach for the tool box. And once constructed all you have to do is plug in and set to work, so it has never been more straightforward to achieve a pristine striped finish on smaller urban lawns than with Bosch’s Rotak 36 R!
