This Bulldog Insulated Cable Layer is specially designed for heavy jobs, with a rubber collar for safety, and a treaded blade to prevent slipping.
This is the treaded model of Bulldog’s Insulated ‘Powerbreaker’ Cable Layer (sometimes known as a Grafting Spade), featuring treads welded onto the upper edge of the blade. These enable you to use the power of your legs in the digging action without damaging your footwear, and without slipping when working in wet and muddy conditions.
This shovel is designed for heavy ground-breaking tasks such as digging cable trenches, while its slightly dished shape makes it well-suited to digging in clay. Manufactured to BS8020 standards, this shovel has been tested to 10,000 volts and is guaranteed to 1,000 volts, supplied with a Certificate of Conformity.
The blade is sized at (L) 280mm x (W) 125mm and has been solid-forged with the socket from one piece of manganese steel for maximum strength, an epoxy coating moreover granting it even greater durability. The blade also has round corners to dramatically lessen the risk of damaging underground pipes and cables while you are digging.
The 28” (711mm) shaft and YD handle meanwhile are constructed from one tough fibreglass piece, the D-shaped handle affording a secure and comfortable grip. Finally, the rubber collar incorporates a protective wear sleeve and insulates your hands for safe use at all times.
