A step up from your average ‘hobbyist’ chainsaw, ECHO’s CS-420ES is a professional grade saw ideal for felling, snedding and bucking medium-sized trees. An impressively powerful machine designed for use by professional tree surgeons and farmers taking on tough cutting work in an agricultural setting, the CS-420ES is perfect for those who need substantial cutting power from a chainsaw which is both pleasingly portable and reassuringly easy to use.
This user-friendly combination of clout and convenience is perhaps most evident in the CS-420ES’s potent yet compact 40.2cc two-stroke petrol engine. This engine makes the CS-420ES stands out from its competitors by featuring ECHO’s clever Power Boost Tornado™ technology, which optimises the combustion process to increase power, enhance fuel efficiency and reduce exhaust emissions. The upshot of this is that the CS-420ES is easier to operate, cheaper to run and performs better than the vast majority of comparable chainsaws fitted with conventional two-stroke engines, while a high capacity 0.41 litre fuel tank increases run time to make it easier to take on heavier workloads.
The power of the aforementioned engine is channelled into the CS-420ES’s cutting system, with both a sturdy 38cm (15”) guide bar and 0.325” chain included as standard. As the CS-420ES is designed to be capable of taking on tough logging work it is handy that an optional bumper spike is also included, providing a helpful pivot point to make felling and cutting up trees for firewood a much simpler prospect. A variety of other features further help to ensure optimal performance regardless of the job at hand, not least the easy-access side mounted chain tensioner (which permits quick tightening of the saw chain when required) and the adjustable automatic oil pump (which regulates chain lubrication to ensure consistently superb results).
The delights offered by the CS-420ES don’t stop there, however, with many ergonomic features included to ensure complete comfort and convenience during operation. Perhaps most impressive among these features is the G-Force Engine Air Pre-Cleaner system, which ensures superb dust control, but the six anti-vibration cushions on the rear handle also deserve a mention for helping to prevent operator fatigue over extended periods of use. Similarly practical is the inclusion of an Easy Start system, which reduces starter cord resistance by up to 50% and combines with digital capacitor discharge ignition to save valuable time and effort from the moment you begin working. Supplied as standard with either a five year domestic warranty or a two year commercial warranty, ECHO’s CS-420ES is therefore a superb mid-range, low emission chainsaw for all professional and semi-professional users.

About EchoECHO has been a leading Japanese manufacturer of commercial quality outdoor power equipment for over thirty years, but the origins of the company can be traced back further still. This is because ECHO is a branch of the Yamabiko Corporation, which was formed with the merger of the Kioritz Corporation and the Shindaiwa Corporation after WWII. Both of these companies had over fifty years of experience in their respective fields and the Yamabiko Corporation continued this heritage by drawing upon the experience of both, releasing a revolutionary new backpack power-duster in 1947. This was followed by the first Kyoritsu ‘power scythe’ brushcutter 1960, and in 1968 by the first “ECHO” product, the CS-80 chainsaw. Since then, ECHO has become a name associated with high performance, highly durable and superbly easy to use power tools across the globe.
Extremely reliable and dependable, ECHO tools are ergonomically designed to be comfortable to use and perform to the very highest professional standards every working day. ECHO also continues to innovate, striving to stay at the cutting edge of technological development in order to provide the best products possible. This is particularly evident in the company’s development of low noise, low vibration and low emission engine technology, making ECHO tools significantly easier to use and better for the environment than many competing machines.
These days the iconic orange casing of ECHO power tools can be found in garden sheds and garages throughout the UK, and with a wide range of products available for both commercial and domestic users, including a variety of handy chainsaws, hedgetrimmers, brushcutters and leaf blowers, there is therefore almost certainly an ECHO tool ideal for you, whatever your particular requirements.
