In the American sitcom Who’s The Boss?, Tony Danza plays a former second baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals who was forced to retire due to a shoulder injury and who subsequently takes a job as a live-in housekeeper for a divorced advertising executive. Whether Tony Danza’s housekeeping duties extended to the garden I do not know for sure, but if they did perhaps he would have had a use for a different kind of ‘boss’; Efco’s 8550 BOSS, a potent professional grade brushcutter designed to offer the power and precision needed for tackling heavy duty grass cutting work.
In the show, Danza and company were always too busy with their semi-humorous shenanigans to engage in any serious landscaping work, but the 8550 BOSS’s hardworking 52.5cc two-stroke petrol engine is more than powerful enough to perform in even the toughest cutting conditions. Designed and built with only the highest quality components in order to withstand the rigours of demanding commercial work, the 8550 BOSS’s engine features a sturdy steel crankshaft, a diamond finished two-ringed piston, tough magnesium alloy engine casing and a professional quality air filter. All of these features offer exceptional reliability and a longer service life, helping the 8550 BOSS to perform to the highest level possible at all times.
Versatility is also a virtue of the 8550 BOSS, with both a highly effective ‘Tap & Go’ dual nylon line trimmer head and a tempered steel grass blade supplied as standard. The 160mm diameter trimmer head is the largest available for any brushcutter in Efco’s range, making it easier to mow verges and other large areas of grass inaccessible to a conventional lawnmower. Moreover, for added efficiency the trimmer head also features a semi-automatic ‘Tap & Go’ line feed system, allowing you to advance the cutting line quickly and effortlessly by simply tapping the head against the ground. The brushcutter blade, meanwhile, is hardened for outstanding durability and potent enough to cut swathes through even the densest scrub and undergrowth.
The inclusion of a tough plastic blade guard to deflect clippings, stones and other detritus while you work means that the 8550 BOSS is also always pleasingly safe and comfortable to operate, while a handy choke lever and primer bulb offer even greater convenience by ensuring quick and hassle-free starting time after time. Moreover, as this impressive machine also comes with an ergonomically designed dual-handlebar and a professional quality harness to help prevent strain, even protracted periods of operation are reassuringly stress free.
I’m not entirely sure I’d recommend watching Who’s The Boss? if you haven’t already, as there are 196 episodes and to my mind the identity of ‘the boss’ was never properly established. However, this matters not, as when it comes to tough garden maintenance work there is definitely only one ‘BOSS’ that matters (and certainly it isn’t Tony Danza).
