The brilliantly user-friendly MT 1800 E electric chainsaw is designed for quick and efficient cutting work in residential settings, such as chopping firewood, light pruning or DIY.
Nikola Tesla, renowned inventor, electrical engineer and famed mad scientist, dreamed of many fantastical electrical devices, including (notoriously) an ultimately unsuccessful ‘death ray’ which was supposed to “send concentrated beams of particles through the free air, of such tremendous energy that they will bring down a fleet of 10,000 enemy airplanes at a distance of 200 miles from a defending nation’s border and will cause armies to drop dead in their tracks” One of the things Nikola Tesla didn’t consider, however, was using electricity to chop up wood, but happily Efco’s brilliant MT 1800 E electric chainsaw now fills that niche in the market.
Designed for light work in residential settings, such as cutting firewood for stoves and fireplaces, pruning small to medium tree branches or general DIY duties, the MT 1800 E is powered via the mains and features a smashing little 1.8kW/230V electric motor at its heart. There are many advantages to this over machine with a petrol engine, not least the fact that the MT 1800 E is notably cleaner and cheaper to run than most chainsaws. The simplified design of the electric motor also means that little maintenance is required, so even inexperienced users will be able to get years of reliable service out of the MT 1800 E.
Fitted as standard with a sturdy 35cm (14”) bar and a potent 3/8” x .050” (pitch x gauge) chain, the MT 1800 E has been built to handle tough tasks with remarkable efficiency and the minimum of fuss. The chain, for example, can be quickly fitted, adjusted and tensioned with superb ease thanks to a clever ‘no tools’ system. The MT 1800 E’s compact, lightweight (only 4.4kg) and ergonomic design, moreover, means that this tough little machine is incredibly portable and easy to manoeuvre, so achieving a precision cut is always simple. A nice little extra in this regard is the ‘soft touch’ rubber coating on the handles, which both ensures a secure grip for extra accuracy and makes the MT 1800 E exceedingly comfortable to use.
This combination of precision, ease of operation and impressive power makes Efco’s MT 1800 E a great introduction to the exciting world of chainsaws, and a very handy time-and-effort-saving tool to have around when taking on any tough cutting work.

About EfcoGiacomo Ferretti set the foundations of the Efco brand on the road to success back in 1978, spotting an opportunity to satisfy an Italian market beginning to demand high quality outdoor power tools. He responded by producing Efco lawnmowers, brush cutters, and chainsaws. Due to the high quality of the machinery made, the manufacturing of these products soon developed an enviable reputation amongst forestry and agricultural workers, users that demanded the best performance possible from their equipment. Sales of Efco lawnmowers began to soar during the intervening years and the Efco brand is now internationally recognised as a leader in the field of garden machinery manufacturing.
They take their role very seriously though, and were the first company in this sector to achieve official certification in three crucial areas of business sustainability: the ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality in 1996, the SA 8000:2008 certificate for ethical processes of production in 2006 and the ISO 14001:2004, recognising Efco's efforts to reduce their impact on the environment with an ongoing commitment to become Carbon Neutral starting in 2010.
