Efco’s Multimate system is an all-in-one tool designed to tackle an impressive range of horticultural tasks, ideal for keen gardeners with diverse needs. Whether tidying lawn edges, trimming grass, clearing dense scrub or even tilling the soil, the Multimate system has something up its (metaphorical) sleeve to help get the job done quickly, efficiently and effectively.
Efco’s promotional literature describes the Multimate system as having “one big heart” and “seven personalities”. The “big heart” in question refers to the Multimate’s powerful 30.0cc two-stroke petrol engine, designed to provide smooth running and reliable power whatever the size of the job at hand. Built with a primer to help ensure quick starting and a digital coil to reduce fuel consumption, this excellent engine is also impressively quiet and clean running, offering outstanding performance with up to 80% lower emissions than most conventional two-stroke engines. The Multimate’s “heart” then, is a big, strong heart, powerful enough to make even tough landscaping work eminently manageable.
The “seven personalities”, meanwhile, refer to the seven high quality attachments available for the Multimate system, including a brushcutter, a lawn edger and even a versatile tiller unit. Quite what the precise character of each implement might be I will leave you to ascertain, but qualities shared by all of these attachments include industriousness, toughness and user-friendliness, so they are clearly a helpful bunch to have around. Moreover, with a patented ‘Rev&Go’ quick-fit system included as standard you can switch from one implement to the next in just five seconds; simply push and twist to attach, and then use the quick release mechanism to remove the attachment once you are done. Each implement can also be locked in place in one of two positions for maximum versatility, further enhancing ease of use.
The engine unit itself is a friendly being, always looking to make life a little easier for those around it. The engine, for example, has been built with a three-spring anti-vibration system, which combines with the ergonomically designed rubber handle to offer outstanding comfort over extended periods of use. A Safety Control System, meanwhile, stops the engine as soon as you attempt to remove the attached implement, thereby helping to guarantee your safety during operation. Other convenient features include an efficient air filter designed to reduce service requirements, a lightweight build to ensure manoeuvrability, and easy access controls to help ensure hassle-free operation at all times. The engine unit is even supplied with a harness as standard to provide additional support during use, making the Multimate system a truly exceptional companion for anyone working in their garden.
