According to a test run by Popular Mechanics magazine, Efco’s SA 2700 BP backpack mounted leaf blower is a “well-mannered” piece of equipment. One can only assume that this means that it is polite and considerate, which is certainly to be applauded but perhaps not what one looks for first in a hardworking, powerful blower such as this. More pertinently, however, the review also states that the SA 2700 BP is “a pleasure to use” and gives it the top score possible of five stars out of five. Well-mannered or otherwise, then, this is clearly an impressive machine and a closer look at some of its capabilities should make this even clearer still.
Part of Efco’s ‘Tough Tech’ range and thus suitable for both heavy duty domestic duties and lighter commercial work, the SA 2700 BP is powered by an industrious 30.5cc two-stroke petrol engine. This allows it to deliver a maximum airflow of up to 12.0m3/min at 65m/s, with the duckbill-style nozzle on the SA 2700 BP’s blower tube concentrating the jet produced to make it even more powerful and easy to direct. The SA 2700 BP is therefore capable of clearing leaves, cuttings and other loose debris from lawns and hard surfaces with impressive efficiency, while the inclusion of a traditional recoil starter and a high capacity 0.6 litre fuel tank serves to ensure hassle-free starting and increased run time between fuel stops.
Equally important as its pushing power, of course, is the SA 2700 BP’s superb ergonomic design. First and foremost this is evident in the form of its backpack harness, which distributes the machine’s weight (a respectably modest 6.4kg without the blower tube) evenly to help ensure comfort and prevent strain over prolonged periods of operation. This means that the SA 2700 BP is capable of taking on much heavier workloads than a handheld blower, while also making it possible to work on rough or uneven ground by significantly improving manoeuvrability. Along with the joystick-style handle fitted to the blower tube, which provides a secure grip and quick access to all controls, this makes using the SA 2700 BP an agreeably straightforward experience.
Built from sturdy materials with only the highest quality components available, including a large paper air filter designed to prevent loss of power in dusty conditions, Efco’s SA 2700 BP is also a reassuringly dependable companion, providing years of superb service. Thus, whether you are a dedicated home gardener or a professional contractor looking for a machine suitable for occasional commercial work, you could do much worse than acquainting yourself with this exceptional machine.
