Product Description

The Flymo Hover Vac 280 is a new light hover mower, the first with a collecting box from Flymo to be designed with the small garden in mind. With a cutting width of 28cm and weighing only 8.8kg, this compact model is ideal for the small garden with slopes, rough ground or uneven surfaces for which a traditional wheeled machine, or even a large hover mower, would be too cumbersome. As the name suggests, this mower floats on a cushion of air which makes it both light and very manoeuvrable, regardless of the operator’s strength or level of experience. The lightness of the 280 is also an advantage when it comes to transport, enabling it to be simply picked up and carried. The sturdy handle folds down to make storage easy, reducing the machine to a compact shape that is easy to store either upright or lying flat.

This model is not the lightest on offer from Flymo, but it includes the convenience of a 20L grass-collecting box to make dealing with your lawn incredibly easy. To make this model even more convenient, the box will not only collect grass but also compacts clippings down as far as possible to maximise mowing time between emptying.

Even the small details on this mower are designed to be as convenient and user-friendly as possible; the cable is 10m long, which helps to eliminate the need for extension leads or extra cables as you mow your small garden, yet does not mean trailing metres of extra cable to trip you up or make life difficult while mowing. The blade, unlike on other models designed for small gardens, is made from durable metal rather than flimsy plastic, and can be easily adjusted to any of 4 cutting heights using the spacers provided. The electric motor eliminates the need to buy, store or add petrol, allowing you to simply plug in and start mowing.

About Flymo
Inspired by the invention of Christopher Cockerell's hovercraft several years earlier, it was in 1964 that Karl Dahlman's hover mower design won a gold medal at the Brussels Inventors' Fair, thereby marking the beginning of one of the best known brands in British gardening. Full-scale production of petrol-powered Flymo hover mowers was in place by 1965, based in the new factory at Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. A few years later the first electric hover mowers were launched and a whole new world of mowing was available to the British public. Flymo hover mowers have been finding homes in British garden sheds ever since.

The Flymo hover mowers brand has gone from strength to strength since these early days and it is hard to imagine visiting a garden centre now and not seeing the bright orange machines lining the aisles, with tools varying from battery powered grass trimmers to electric garden vacuums. Now part of the Electrolux Group, Flymo can rightly claim to sell over one million products within the U.K. during a financial year. They also boast a considerable export market; in doing so they have received multiple Queen's Awards for their achievements.
