A superb handheld electric blower/vacuum perfect for clearing leaves from lawns and hard surfaces in urban, residential or other built up areas where petrol machinery would be too noisy.
The name ‘Scirocco’ is drawn from a term for a hot wind, often dusty or rainy, which blows from North Africa across the Mediterranean to southern Europe, frequently reaching hurricane speeds. While it is presumably the power of this breeze which led Flymo to choose the name for their superb domestic blower/vacuum, the ‘Scirocco’ wind itself has been blamed for causing mechanical and architectural abrasion in affected areas, and even the fact that Venice is becoming increasingly close to following the example of Atlantis. Thankfully the Scirocco 3000 is significantly more practical than its meteorological namesake, instead providing a handy method of quickly clearing leaves, twigs, grass and other loose debris from lawns, driveways and paths.
Powered by a brilliantly efficient 3000W electric motor, the Scirocco 3000 is capable of producing a maximum airflow of up to 10.8m³/min at 55m/s (almost double the peak speed of the Scirocco wind, incidentally). This provides enough power to tackle the vast majority of domestic clearance jobs with ease, quickly and efficiently tidying leaves, litter and other debris from lawns and hard surfaces. Despite this impressive power the Scirocco 3000 is also remarkably quiet and clean running, providing superb user convenience and allowing you to achieve an immaculate finish without disturbing the neighbours (and thus giving a welcome boost to neighbourly relations).
With two working modes available, and an easy access switch to enable quick changing between them, the Scirocco 3000 is also pleasingly versatile. The two modes, blower and vacuum, in fact work best in tandem, with the blower allowing you to gather loose leaves into a single pile before then switching to the vacuum mode to collect them all in one go. Vacuumed leaves are also shredded as you work, with cuttings gathered in the Scirocco 3000’s 45 litre collection bag. To help boost collection performance the Scirocco 3000 also features a mulching ratio of 10:1, significantly increasing collection capacity by reducing leaves and other light garden waste to tiny fragments which are perfect for the compost heap.
An additional advantage of being electrically powered is that the Scirocco 3000 requires significantly less maintenance than a petrol powered blower. This convenience is further underlined by the fact that the Scirocco 3000 can be quickly opened to permit cleaning, thereby helping to ensure consistently exceptional performance. This combines with the Scirocco 3000’s ergonomic design, most brilliantly embodied in a sturdy, smooth running guide wheel fitted to the blower tube, to make this handy machine remarkably easy to use, even for less experienced users. Any proud home gardener, then, would do well to consider the many benefits afforded by this wonderfully practical machine.

About FlymoInspired by the invention of Christopher Cockerell's hovercraft several years earlier, it was in 1964 that Karl Dahlman's hover mower design won a gold medal at the Brussels Inventors' Fair, thereby marking the beginning of one of the best known brands in British gardening. Full-scale production of petrol-powered Flymo hover mowers was in place by 1965, based in the new factory at Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. A few years later the first electric hover mowers were launched and a whole new world of mowing was available to the British public. Flymo hover mowers have been finding homes in British garden sheds ever since.
The Flymo hover mowers brand has gone from strength to strength since these early days and it is hard to imagine visiting a garden centre now and not seeing the bright orange machines lining the aisles, with tools varying from battery powered grass trimmers to electric garden vacuums. Now part of the Electrolux Group, Flymo can rightly claim to sell over one million products within the U.K. during a financial year. They also boast a considerable export market; in doing so they have received multiple Queen's Awards for their achievements.
