Product Description

The Flymo UltraGlide is the newest and most advanced electric hover mower from Flymo. It has the largest capacity collecting box of any Flymo hover mower, combining the lightness and manoeuvrability of a hover mower with the convenience of a wheeled machine. Not only can the UltraGlide tackle the slopes and uneven surfaces expected of a hover mower, but it is also designed to cut close to walls, fences and over edges, giving your lawn a better finish than ever.

At 12kg, this is the heaviest Flymo hover model available, but it is still light enough to be easily and safely used by anyone, whatever their strength or experience of mowing. This model also incorporates front wheels to make transporting your machine easy without having to pick it up and carry it, as is the case with many other hover mowers. When it comes to storage, the already compact machine can be reduced to a neat shape by folding down the sturdy handle, making the mower easy to store either upright or lying flat.

Flymo mowers are notable for their user-friendly design, and the UltraGlide is their most convenient model yet, from the spring assisted “always ready” handle to the handy cable store attachment which allows the cable to be coiled up safely when the machine is not in use. A significant example is the largest-ever grass collecting box, which not only has a capacity of 30L but will compact the grass as it collects it to maximise mowing time between emptying. The collecting box also features a large window to allow the operator to see when the box needs emptying in plenty of time. When the time comes to empty the box, it has been designed to allow the operator to lift it out in one easy movement using only one hand, eliminating the need for clips or fiddly catches.

The UltraGlide’s blade has also been designed for maximum utility; made of metal rather than flimsy plastic, it can also be easily adjusted to any of four cutting heights by means of a single lever, with no need to remove the blade to add spacers as with less advanced models. The powerful electric motor also adds to the simplicity of this machine as there is no need to buy, store or add petrol; simply plug in your machine and start mowing.

About Flymo
Inspired by the invention of Christopher Cockerell's hovercraft several years earlier, it was in 1964 that Karl Dahlman's hover mower design won a gold medal at the Brussels Inventors' Fair, thereby marking the beginning of one of the best known brands in British gardening. Full-scale production of petrol-powered Flymo hover mowers was in place by 1965, based in the new factory at Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. A few years later the first electric hover mowers were launched and a whole new world of mowing was available to the British public. Flymo hover mowers have been finding homes in British garden sheds ever since.

The Flymo hover mowers brand has gone from strength to strength since these early days and it is hard to imagine visiting a garden centre now and not seeing the bright orange machines lining the aisles, with tools varying from battery powered grass trimmers to electric garden vacuums. Now part of the Electrolux Group, Flymo can rightly claim to sell over one million products within the U.K. during a financial year. They also boast a considerable export market; in doing so they have received multiple Queen's Awards for their achievements.
