Product Description

The word “rugged” can be used to mean a number of things. When used to describe a natural feature, such as a “rugged coastline” or a “rugged cliff face”, it often implies that something is imposing and impressive. When used to describe clothing, such as a “rugged pair of boots”, it refers to toughness and durability. It can also be used to describe Clint Eastwood, presumably as he often plays characters which are both fairly unforgiving and impressively durable. Husqvarna’s 143R-II, however, is rugged in every possible sense; a powerful commercial grade brushcutter designed for heavy agricultural and horticultural use, the 143-RII is sturdy, incredibly potent and at least as tough as The Man with No Name.
Powered by a hardworking 41.5cc petrol engine, built with a fuel pump to ensure quick starting, the 143R-II is supplied as standard with a versatile cutting system featuring both a T45X dual nylon line trimmer head and a tough metal grass blade. The trimmer head provides the precision required to achieve neat finish on edges and borders, but can also be used for cutting larger patches of longer grass thanks to a heavy duty clutch and a high torque bevel gear positioned parallel to the ground to boost cutting performance. For even greater efficiency, the trimmer head also features a handy ‘Tap & Go’ line feed system; simply tap the cutting head against the ground and the nylon line is advanced to an optimal working length. When faced with denser patches of nettles, thistles and other hardy weeds, meanwhile, the four-tooth grass blade provides a superbly effective alternative cutting option.
Switching between these two cutting modes is made pleasingly simple thanks to the design of Husqvarna’s combi-guard, which also serves to deflect clippings and other debris thrown up while you are working. The 143R-II is also reassuringly easy to service due to the inclusion of a standalone starter system which can be quickly removed to facilitate maintenance, while an effective air filtration system helps to further extend the 143R-II’s service life.
For even greater convenience, the 143R-II’s handlebars, which are held in place by a sturdy die-cast metal clamp, feature an asymmetrical design intended to increase manoeuvrability and ensure an optimal working position. This boosts productivity and combines with the comfortable double-shoulder harness to help prevent any unnecessary strain during extended periods of use. All of this makes the 143R-II a machine perfect for commercial landscaping work and definitely “rugged” enough to get even the toughest job done.

About Husqvarna
Believe it or not, Husqvarna did not start off by manufacturing any type of garden machinery at all. Instead they were established in 1689 as a weapons foundry supplying the Swedish Armed Forces. During the subsequent years, diverse and varied products have been produced, from sewing machines and cast iron kitchen equipment through to bicycles and motorbikes. It wasn't until 1959 that Husqvarna finally made its first chainsaws and engine-driven lawnmowers. The company's reputation for build quality and durability of product has never been in question. This is probably the reason for their line of professional petrol chainsaws being so popular with forestry workers across the globe.

Husqvarna are not afraid to innovate either, introducing the robotic, solar powered Automower® in 1995 and continually looking to improve their existing products by listening to their customers. Jumping onto the grass recycling bandwagon, they also manufacture some of the best mulching lawnmowers available, incorporating Bioclip® technology into the vast majority of their petrol lawn mowers. Be left in no doubt, if you buy any product from the Husqvarna garden machinery stable, you will be buying into Swedish quality that is built to last.
