Husqvarna’s 365, a professional grade rear handle chainsaw, was apparently developed in “close cooperation with professional users working in the most demanding conditions”. It’s therefore tempting to imagine a scene in a Swedish laboratory where engineers and scientists mingle awkwardly with rugged, bearded men (and possibly rugged, bearded women), toiling away together deep into the night and arguing over optimal power-to-weight ratios and the relative merits of semi- and full-chisel chains. Nevertheless, and even if the scenario described above isn’t an entirely accurate representation of the Husqvarna’s development process, the 365 is undoubtedly a rather nifty saw, perfect for prolonged commercial use.
One of the many qualities which qualify Husqvarna’s 365 for tough professional cutting work is its impressive clout, with a magnificently muscular 70.7cc X-Torq® two-stroke petrol engine providing power. Producing roughly 3.6kW at 10,200RPM, this engine benefits massively from Husqvarna’s clever X-Torq® technology which optimises the combustion process so as to boost power, reduce exhaust emissions and increase fuel efficiency. This means that the 365 can work harder for longer than pretty much any comparable saw fitted with a conventional two-stroke engine, while a high capacity 0.77 litre fuel tank further extends run time to save effort otherwise spent refuelling. On top of all of this the inclusion of an enhanced Smart Start® system reduces starter cord resistance by up to 40%, thereby ensuring hassle-free starting every time.
Available as standard with either a 45cm (18”) or a 50cm (20”) guide bar and a 3/8” pitch chain (please call or e-mail to specify the preferred bar/chain combination for your order), the 365 channels the power delivered by its engine to achieve a maximum chain speed of 22.7m/s. This provides more than enough cutting power to take on all heavy duty agricultural and horticultural applications with ease, ranging from chopping firewood to felling trees (in fact, the 365 can happily be used to turn even fairly large trees into a neat pile of logs with pleasingly little fuss). To help ensure consistently exceptional results, furthermore, the 365 also features an adjustable oil pump (which regulates chain lubrication according to suit the conditions at hand) and an easy-access side-mounted chain tensioner, while an effective inertia-activated chain brake is included for vital protection against dangerous kickback events.
The most impressive aspect of the 365’s design, however, is that it manages to balance the outstanding cutting power described above with superb handling and ease of operation. The well-balanced, ergonomic design, for example, incorporates an angled front handle for better grip and extraordinary manoeuvrability, while Husqvarna’s innovative LowVib® anti-vibration system offers added comfort and prevents fatigue over extended periods of operation. Equally handy is the inclusion of a number of features designed to facilitate routine maintenance, including a centrifugal air cleaning system and a quick-release air filter, thus helping to ensure a long and reliable service life. Husqvarna’s usual commitment to rugged, durable construction, moreover, means that the 365 is a reassuringly tough beast, more than capable of withstanding the rigours of daily professional use.
