This powerful electric saw is ergonomically designed and exceptionally easy to use. Mechanical and electronic overload protection spares the motor in the event the chain sticks, and the stop time is less than one second, maximising safety.
Some people seem to reckon that electric chainsaws don’t really count as ‘proper’ chainsaws, dismissing them out of hand as inferior to petrol machines. These people, however, have clearly never used the Husqvarna 420 EL, a superbly powerful electric saw, and can therefore be roundly ignored. You see, the 420 EL is most definitely a ‘proper’ chainsaw, easily capable of delivering the same cutting power as a 2.8HP petrol driven saw, but without all the fumes, hassle and troublesome expense involved in running such a machine.
Fitted with a quiet running 230V electric motor designed to deliver smooth running power to the cutting gear, being powered via the mains offers a number of advantages over a comparable petrol saw. The lack of exhaust emissions, for example, makes the 420 EL much more environmentally friendly and enjoyable to use. The reduced running costs and service requirements, meanwhile, further ensure user-friendliness, with the ability to work without having to stop and refuel on a regular basis a definite boon. An electronic starter system, ergonomic design, and speed limiter are all included for better control, greater reliability and to prevent damage being caused by overheating.
Supplied as standard with a 40cm (16”) bar and 3/8″ pitch low profile chain, the 420 EL is ideal for challenging cutting work in both residential and agricultural contexts, including chopping firewood and various home improvement and construction related tasks. An adjustable oil pump, moreover, is included to help regulate chain lubrication, thereby ensuring great results in a wide variety of cutting conditions. Furthermore, the Husqvarna 420 EL features slimline design (with the motor positioned lengthways to save space) and ergonomically designed front and rear handles make it particularly compact and easy to handle, thereby ensuring outstanding control at all times.
A variety of safety features, such as the inertia chain brake, throttle lock, right hand guard and chain catcher all serve to keep you protected while you work, thus providing even greater peace of mind for the operator. A robust build, meanwhile, ensures as long and reliable a service life as you would expect from a Husqvarna machine. This combination of power, convenience and durability makes the Husqvarna 420 EL an ideal machine for taxing cutting work in residential and other built-up environments, providing a brilliant alternative to a traditional petrol chainsaw.

About HusqvarnaBelieve it or not, Husqvarna did not start off by manufacturing any type of garden machinery at all. Instead they were established in 1689 as a weapons foundry supplying the Swedish Armed Forces. During the subsequent years, diverse and varied products have been produced, from sewing machines and cast iron kitchen equipment through to bicycles and motorbikes. It wasn't until 1959 that Husqvarna finally made its first chainsaws and engine-driven lawnmowers. The company's reputation for build quality and durability of product has never been in question. This is probably the reason for their line of professional petrol chainsaws being so popular with forestry workers across the globe.
Husqvarna are not afraid to innovate either, introducing the robotic, solar powered Automower® in 1995 and continually looking to improve their existing products by listening to their customers. Jumping onto the grass recycling bandwagon, they also manufacture some of the best mulching lawnmowers available, incorporating Bioclip® technology into the vast majority of their petrol lawn mowers. Be left in no doubt, if you buy any product from the Husqvarna garden machinery stable, you will be buying into Swedish quality that is built to last.
