Rancher chainsaws have a legendary status amongst their users, mainly due to the excellent performance that they deliver and impressive build quality. The Husqvarna Rancher 455 lives up to the legacy and is well suited to farms and smallholdings.

The name “RANCHER” instantly conjures up images of living wild in the Old West, suggesting a chainsaw designed for rugged, outdoorsy types; perhaps the kind of saw Bear Grylls would use to rig up a sturdy bivouac before settling down to a well-earned dinner of grilled bear. Husqvarna’s 455 RANCHER doesn’t disappoint in this respect; tough, powerful and high performing, the 455 RANCHER is an all-action saw ideal for all who require a heavy duty, responsive tool suitable for use in all cutting conditions.
Supplied as standard with a 45cm (18”) bar and .325” pitch chain (can also be equipped with 37.5cm/15” and 47.5cm/20” bars), the Husqvarna 455 RANCHER is a versatile machine and easy to customise with a bar and chain combination which suits the task at hand. Moreover, with a maximum chain speed of 20m/s this impressive machine will tackle even the toughest residential cutting work with enviable ease. Equally suitable for use on large farms and estates, features such as the adjustable oil pump and a side-mounted chain tensioner mean that you can be assured of optimal performance regardless of the job at hand, while handy felling marks on the 455 RANCHER’s casing provide a valuable guide for extra precision when felling trees. For added protection against kickback, moreover, an effective inertia-activated chain brake is also included.
Power to the cutting system, meanwhile, is provided via a pleasingly muscular 55.5cc X-Torq two-stroke petrol engine, making this chainsaw the most powerful model in Husqvarna’s residential range. The X-Torq system works by ensuring that fuel is burnt more completely, thus boosting performance, reducing emissions by up to 75% and increasing fuel efficiency by 20%. Needless to say this gives the Husqvarna 455 RANCHER a significant advantage over similar saws fitted with a conventional two-stroke engine, along with the additional benefit of being better for the environment! Another clever feature developed by Husqvarna is the new and improved version of their always dependable Smart Start system, which here reduces starter cord resistance by 40% and combines with an easy-access primer bulb to save time and effort during start up.
The 455 RANCHER also benefits from Husqvarna’s usual meticulous attention to detail when it comes to design, with a variety of additional features further improving convenience and comfort for the user. A specially angled front handle, for example, provides a reassuringly secure grip and a natural working position, while Husqvarna’s brilliant LowVib anti-vibration system prevents fatigue over extended periods of operation. Even handier are features such as the centrifugal air cleaning system, the quick-release air filter and the snap-lock cylinder cover, each of which makes routine maintenance easier and therefore helps to ensure consistently superb performance over time. Being built with high quality components such as the three-piece forged crankshaft, moreover, means that this compact but tough saw is more than capable of offering many years of outstanding performance, even when faced with the most challenging cutting work.

About Husqvarna
Believe it or not, Husqvarna did not start off by manufacturing any type of garden machinery at all. Instead they were established in 1689 as a weapons foundry supplying the Swedish Armed Forces. During the subsequent years, diverse and varied products have been produced, from sewing machines and cast iron kitchen equipment through to bicycles and motorbikes. It wasn't until 1959 that Husqvarna finally made its first chainsaws and engine-driven lawnmowers. The company's reputation for build quality and durability of product has never been in question. This is probably the reason for their line of professional petrol chainsaws being so popular with forestry workers across the globe.

Husqvarna are not afraid to innovate either, introducing the robotic, solar powered Automower® in 1995 and continually looking to improve their existing products by listening to their customers. Jumping onto the grass recycling bandwagon, they also manufacture some of the best mulching lawnmowers available, incorporating Bioclip® technology into the vast majority of their petrol lawn mowers. Be left in no doubt, if you buy any product from the Husqvarna garden machinery stable, you will be buying into Swedish quality that is built to last.
