A good commercial grade chainsaw is essential for keeping large farms and estates in good order. This is most obviously true on sites abounding with trees or on estates with an orchard, where having a decent chainsaw to hand will make pruning, felling and snedding even the toughest, gnarliest trees eminently manageable (thus keeping Old Mother Nature in her proper place). Designed for frequent commercial use, Husqvarna’s 555 is a powerful rear handle chainsaw ideal for such jobs and capable of tackling all heavy duty horticultural and agricultural cutting work with ease.
With power supplied via an outstandingly potent and user-friendly 59.8cc X-Torq® two-stroke petrol engine, the 555 is an undeniably beefy machine capable of leaving most of its competitors standing in terms of cutting performance. This is in part because of the air-injection system used in Husqvarna’s X-Torq® engines, which enhances the combustion process to increase fuel efficiency, boost power and decrease harmful emissions. The effectiveness of this process means that the run time you can get from a single tank of petrol is increased by about 20%, which in combination with the 555’s high capacity 0.65 litre means that you can work for longer without having to stop and refuel.
Arguably the most impressive aspect of the 555’s design, however, is its brilliant AutoTune system, which automatically adjusts the engine’s performance to suit the fuel mix being used and the atmospheric conditions at hand. As such you can be assured of optimal performance even when the going gets tough, and with a 45cm (18”) bar and .325” pitch chain supplied as standard (also available with a 37.5cm/15” bar) you will be able to turn even large trees into a neat pile of firewood, branches and sawdust with pleasingly little fuss. Cutting performance is further enhanced by the inclusion of an adjustable oil pump to help regulate chain lubrication, while an easy-access side-mounted chain tensioner means that you can quickly and easily tighten or loosen the chain as required.
The rigours of professional cutting work demand more than just power, however, as a chainsaw with a flimsy build will soon be exposed as a pretender when asked to deal with tough commercial jobs. There is no worry of that ever happening with any of Husqvarna’s commercial grade saws, however, and the 555 is built with a forged three-piece crankshaft and a magnesium crankcase for exceptional protection against wear, bumps, scrapes and knocks. Furthermore, with a number of clever design features included to facilitate routine servicing (including a centrifugal air cleaning system, a quick-release air filter and a snap-lock cylinder cover), you can therefore rest completely assured of a long and reliable service life.
Given the general heft and ruggedness of this superb machine, you might not expect it to feature a range of ergonomic features to enhance comfort during operation; it does though, with the cleverly shaped handles and a LowVib® anti-vibration system both working to ensure your comfort and prevent fatigue, thus allowing you to work safely for longer. Similarly handy features include the effective inertia-activated chain brake, felling guidance marks on the casing, and a Smart Start® system which reduces starter cord resistance by up to 40% to help save time and effort from the very moment you begin working. All in all, then, Husqvarna’s 555 is a rather useful piece of kit.

About HusqvarnaBelieve it or not, Husqvarna did not start off by manufacturing any type of garden machinery at all. Instead they were established in 1689 as a weapons foundry supplying the Swedish Armed Forces. During the subsequent years, diverse and varied products have been produced, from sewing machines and cast iron kitchen equipment through to bicycles and motorbikes. It wasn't until 1959 that Husqvarna finally made its first chainsaws and engine-driven lawnmowers. The company's reputation for build quality and durability of product has never been in question. This is probably the reason for their line of professional petrol chainsaws being so popular with forestry workers across the globe.
Husqvarna are not afraid to innovate either, introducing the robotic, solar powered Automower® in 1995 and continually looking to improve their existing products by listening to their customers. Jumping onto the grass recycling bandwagon, they also manufacture some of the best mulching lawnmowers available, incorporating Bioclip® technology into the vast majority of their petrol lawn mowers. Be left in no doubt, if you buy any product from the Husqvarna garden machinery stable, you will be buying into Swedish quality that is built to last.
