When investing in a ride-on lawnmower it makes sense to get a machine capable of handling a wide range of jobs and situations, so versatility is an important consideration. Husqvarna’s front riders excel in this respect, not least due to their combination of strength, adaptability and agility. More powerful than some of the more basic models among Husqvarna’s 100 and 200 series front rider mowers, the R 216 nevertheless remains impressively compact, manoeuvrable and easy to use.

At an extra cost, the R 216 is available with one of two cutting decks; one with a 94cm width of cut, and a slightly larger 103cm model. Both of these combi decks are constructed with tough steel for a long service life, and both also feature handy automatic blade engagement and two distinct cutting modes: BioClip® grass mulching and efficient rear ejection. When used in mulching mode, the cutting deck reduces clippings to tiny particles which are subsequently ejected back onto your lawn where they work as a natural fertiliser, leaving a tidy surface finish and promoting healthy growth.

For areas of grass too long or rough for mulching, however, the R 216 also features an efficient rear discharge mode, activated quickly and easily by removing the back plate from the cutting deck. This allows you to eject clippings as you mow, making tackling larger lawns a much simpler prospect. Moreover, the front mounted position of the cutting deck allows for access to parts of your lawn other mowers would struggle to reach, while precise ten-position height of cut adjustment offers valuable versatility via an easily accessible lever system.

With power provided by a hardworking 500cc Briggs & Stratton Intek petrol engine, the R 216 also features fully hydrostatic transmission. This simple, pedal operated system allows for infinitely fine speed control and makes it easier to mow around edges and borders. Maneouvrability is further improved by the mower’s pivoting rear axle and Husqvarna’s unique articulated steering system, which allows the rear wheels to swing in underneath the machine for a tighter turning circle.

Furthermore, with a tough build and accessible service points the R 216 is also easy to clean and maintain, and a twelve litre fuel tank with a transparent window and an external cap makes managing refuelling efficient and simple. All of this helps to ensure ease of operation and a longer service life, meaning you can trust Husqvarna’s R 216 front mower to provide years of reliable service.

About Husqvarna
Believe it or not, Husqvarna did not start off by manufacturing any type of garden machinery at all. Instead they were established in 1689 as a weapons foundry supplying the Swedish Armed Forces. During the subsequent years, diverse and varied products have been produced, from sewing machines and cast iron kitchen equipment through to bicycles and motorbikes. It wasn't until 1959 that Husqvarna finally made its first chainsaws and engine-driven lawnmowers. The company's reputation for build quality and durability of product has never been in question. This is probably the reason for their line of professional petrol chainsaws being so popular with forestry workers across the globe.

Husqvarna are not afraid to innovate either, introducing the robotic, solar powered Automower® in 1995 and continually looking to improve their existing products by listening to their customers. Jumping onto the grass recycling bandwagon, they also manufacture some of the best mulching lawnmowers available, incorporating Bioclip® technology into the vast majority of their petrol lawn mowers. Be left in no doubt, if you buy any product from the Husqvarna garden machinery stable, you will be buying into Swedish quality that is built to last.
