A rear-wheel drive lawnmower is fine if your lawn is flat and well maintained, but on rougher ground or when mowing on slopes and verges rear-wheel drive mowers may struggle to maintain optimum levels of performance. Likewise, on softer ground or in slippery conditions, rear-wheel drive mowers can find it tough to get enough traction to ensure consistent results. Luckily, all-wheel drive mowers such as Husqvarna’s R 316T AWD are specifically designed to handle such conditions, and the R 316T AWD is more than capable of providing comfort, agility and convenience to match its impressive power.
The tough 603cc Kawasaki FS Series V-Twin petrol engine at the heart of the R 316T AWD is central to the mower’s efficacy, providing the power required for the hydrostatic transmission and all-wheel drive to function to full effect (with a maximum speed of 9.0km/h). Combined with the pivoting rear axle and articulated steering, which allows the mower’s rear wheels to swing in underneath the machine, this also makes the R 316T AWD pleasingly manoeuvrable, while the comfortable seating position and wide wheels help to further ensure a smooth ride.
Equally impressive is the R 316T AWD’s versatility, with a clever attachment frame allowing you to switch quickly and easily between a cutting deck and Husqvarna’s wide range of front mounted accessories, including a flail mower, snow thrower and powered broom (available separately). In terms cutting, the R 316T AWD can be fitted with one of three combi decks (94cm, 103cm or 112cm) depending on your requirements, all offering two distinct cutting modes: BioClip® grass mulching and efficient rear discharge. Mulching grass is increasingly popular with many professional gardeners as it simultaneously leaves a tidy finish and helps promote healthy lawn growth. To achieve this, clippings are cut repeatedly until reduced to tiny particles which are blown deep into the base of your lawn, where they subsequently break down to release vital nutrients and moisture. Rear discharge mode, on the other hand, is particularly useful when cutting longer, rougher areas of grass and can be activated simply by removing the cutting deck’s rear panel. Both modes also benefit from nine step height of cut adjustment (25mm-75mm), automatically engaged cutting blades and a floating deck design with pivoting support wheels to help protect your lawn from surface damage.
In addition to all of this serious cutting power, the R 316T AWD also has a gentler side, with a comfortable seating position, easily accessible controls and powerful headlights all working to help provide protection and convenience during operation. Moreover, with a durable reinforced steel frame and easily accessible service points for routine maintenance, the R 316T AWD is more than capable of providing many years of reliable service, making this machine the perfect choice for anyone looking to achieve outstanding cutting results on a large, uneven lawn.
