Certainly the most impressive machine in Husqvarna’s 300 series of compact, agile and powerful rider mowers, the R 316TXs AWD’s design includes even more impressive features than the slightly overlong sequence of letters in its name may suggest. With all-wheel drive boosted by Husqvarna’s X-tra Efficiency system, the R 316TXs AWD is superbly efficient in even the toughest mowing conditions, while simultaneously offering levels of comfort, convenience and versatility with which few comparable mowers can compete.
Perhaps the most distinctive element of this mower’s design is its use of a noise muffling, car style engine hood to boost the hardworking 603cc Kawasaki FS Series V-Twin petrol engine’s RPM, thereby increasing ground and blade speed for optimum efficiency. This “X-tra Efficiency” system works alongside the mower’s all-wheel drive to ensure the power necessary for effective mowing even on slopes and verges or in slippery conditions with which a rear-wheel drive mower would struggle.
The R 316TXs AWD also features user friendly, pedal operated hydrostatic transmission for smooth, infinitely variable speed control (up to an impressive maximum of 9.5km/h). This works in conjunction with the mower’s articulated steering system and pivoting rear axle to improve handling when mowing around obstacles or borders. What’s more, thanks to the inclusion of power steering operating the R 316TXs AWD is much less strenuous than you might expect.
Costs for decks are available on enquiry. Available in one of three different sizes depending on your requirements (94cm, 103cm or 112cm), the R 316TXs AWD’s cutting deck features a floating, front mounted design which helps prevent scalping and makes it easier to access hard to each parts of your lawn. Moreover, all of Husqvarna’s combi decks feature two distinct cutting modes: BioClip® grass mulching and efficient rear discharge. When used for mulching, grass clippings are cut repeatedly before being ejected back onto the lawn where they act as a natural fertiliser; this leaves a tidy surface finish and recycles valuable nutrients and moisture which would otherwise be wasted. However, by simply removing the deck’s back panel you can also activate an efficient rear discharge mode, perfect for tackling areas of longer grass.
This impressive level of versatility is further enhanced by the R 316TXs AWD’s clever attachment frame, designed to make it quick and easy to switch between a cutting deck and Husqvarna’s wide range of optional front mounted accessories, including snow blades, powered brooms and flail mowers. Easy to operate height of cut adjustment, meanwhile, provides valuable precision, controlled via an easily accessible lever system and featuring nine positions between 25mm and 75mm.
None of the above even touches upon the variety of convenient, performance and comfort enhancing features with which the R 316TXs AWD is abounding, including (but not limited to) pivoting support wheels on the cutting deck, powerful halogen headlights, a high seating position for unimpeded visibility and a handy digital service indicator. However, with a reinforced steel frame for outstanding durability and easily accessed service points for routine cleaning and maintenance also included as standard the R 316TXs AWD is perfectly capable of offering many years of reliable service, which should provide more than enough time to discover everything this extraordinary machine has to offer.

About HusqvarnaBelieve it or not, Husqvarna did not start off by manufacturing any type of garden machinery at all. Instead they were established in 1689 as a weapons foundry supplying the Swedish Armed Forces. During the subsequent years, diverse and varied products have been produced, from sewing machines and cast iron kitchen equipment through to bicycles and motorbikes. It wasn't until 1959 that Husqvarna finally made its first chainsaws and engine-driven lawnmowers. The company's reputation for build quality and durability of product has never been in question. This is probably the reason for their line of professional petrol chainsaws being so popular with forestry workers across the globe.
Husqvarna are not afraid to innovate either, introducing the robotic, solar powered Automower® in 1995 and continually looking to improve their existing products by listening to their customers. Jumping onto the grass recycling bandwagon, they also manufacture some of the best mulching lawnmowers available, incorporating Bioclip® technology into the vast majority of their petrol lawn mowers. Be left in no doubt, if you buy any product from the Husqvarna garden machinery stable, you will be buying into Swedish quality that is built to last.
