With its commercial grade engine, large 53cm cutting width and the industry’s thickest cutting deck, this Heavy Duty Hi-Vac Mower is built to withstand the tough conditions faced by professional gardeners and landscapers and is ideal for tackling large areas of grass. The Toro 22189TE’s die-cast aluminium cutting deck is 6mm thick for added durability whilst also succeeding in minimizing the overall weight of the mower. It also offers superior grass collecting performance, while additional features such as the blade brake clutch and variable speed system make this a mower which offers convenience and versatility in all areas of performance.
The 22189TE offers three ways for you to dispose of your grass cuttings: rear collection, side discharge and rear discharge, with leaf collection also possible if you use the mower on its top height setting. The side and rear discharge functions are particularly useful if the grass is very long and thick, ejecting the clippings back out of the mower and preventing the cutting blade from becoming clogged up. For the collection option meanwhile, this mower is equipped with a large 75 litre capacity grassbag, its excellent size allowing you to work in a far more time-efficient manner, seeing as you do not have to stop so often to empty it. Versatility is also offered when it comes to the height of cut. This can be adjusted by the use of levers on the wheels, with a height range of 25mm to 96mm, adequately preparing the mower for dealing with a wide variety of grass conditions.
In terms of its self-propulsion system, the 22189TE is equipped with a heavy duty 3-speed gearbox, propelling the mower at 2, 3 or 3.8mph, allowing you to suit the speed to both your pace of work and the particular cutting conditions. Power is provided by a strong and reliable 180cc Kawasaki 4-cycle FJ engine, easily started by the recoil handle which can be operated comfortably from a standing position. The wheels meanwhile are made of steel for excellent durability, while their smooth-running ball bearings help to improve manoeuvrability, and allow the mower to roll easily even when the going gets tough.
Safety and convenience are also offered by Toro in the form of Operator Presence Control and the blade brake clutch. The OPC lever, located by the handlebar, allows you to stop the engine at any time, giving you absolute control over the mower’s movement. The blade brake clutch meanwhile stops the blade but keeps the engine running. This is particularly handy for when you need to travel over non-grassed terrain, such as a gravel driveway, or when you need to stop and empty the grassbag. It also allows you to work more quickly, minimising the number of engine restarts.
