Most ride-on lawnmowers would baulk at the idea of trying to tackle wild or overgrown areas of grassland, thick with brambles, thistles and weeds. “Hey man,” they’d say, “I’m a garden tractor! Nobody said anything about trimming a forest!” At this point, however, Westwood’s T80 HGM lawn tractor enters the scene, takes one look at the thicket to be cleared and sets to work with a stoic nod. This is because most ride-on lawnmowers lack the power, strength and engineering brilliance for which Westwood tractors are well known and can only sit on the sidelines while Westwood’s machines get on with tackling the very toughest mowing jobs.
For large areas of scrubland of up to three acres, there are few better machines available than the T80 when fitted with one of Westwood’s unique high grass mulching decks. Utilising heavy chains at the front and rear of the deck to ensure that cut material does not leave the cutting chamber until fully mulched, the miniscule clippings produced are then returned to the soil in order to recycle vital nutrients and moisture and promote healthy lawn growth. The heavy-duty 92cm cutting deck used by the T80 is designed to make light work of cutting dense weeds, nettles, brambles and thistles, while variable cutting height adjustment (12mm-101mm) ensures versatility and a precision finish. Moreover, the T80 can also be used in conjunction with Westwood’s 300 litre powered grass collector (available separately) for excellent cut and collection performance and an iconic striped finish on formal lawns.
Power is provided by an industrious 603cc Kawasaki FR541V OHV petrol engine, precision engineered to ensure optimum performance and a longer service life. Fully hydrostatic transmission, meanwhile, makes the T80 simple to operate and offers the kind of precise control that can make all the difference when cutting in complicated areas or around obstacles such as trees or rocks. A power take-off fitting means that the T80 can also be used with a variety of powered accessories, including a handy scarifier and a broadcast spreader, thereby ensuring even greater versatility and functionality. Safety and comfort are also factors taken into account, with an ergonomically designed driver’s seat, a sturdy impact-resistant bullbar and a fail-safe parking break all included as standard. Handmade in Great Britain using only the finest components and toughest materials, the T80 HGM garden tractor from Westwood is therefore nigh on unbeatable when it comes to clearing rough scrubland quickly and efficiently.
